CYNTHIA HUNTER HOLDS A MASTER’S DEGREE IN JOURNALISM from Columbia University in New York. A professional photographer since 1992, Hunter manages her own editorial and advertising photography business at cynthiahunter.com.

As chief marketing photographer for Steamboat Ski and Resort Corporation in Colorado for six years, Hunter developed photography coverage in regional and national media markets to promote the international resort community. Her work has appeared in the New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, USA Today, Newsweek and on CBS News. Her commercial work has also been featured in national advertising campaigns for Anheuser-Busch Companies Inc., Purina Mills, LLC. and Featherlite Inc.

Since 2003, Hunter has held a national appointment in photography and public affairs as a disaster assistance employee for the Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency. As Field Coordinator during Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, she managed 19 public affairs officers prior to accepting her present position for the state of Texas.

She is currently Deputy Director of Communications and Manager of Photography Staff and Projects for the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC), the state agency responsible for supporting Texas’ more than 400,000 employers and 11 million workers. Based in Austin, she is one of two agency spokespersons and manages a staff of communication specialists handling public relations and photography for TWC on statewide and national issues.
