THE FBI AND THE JOINT TERRORISM TASKFORCE

Preventing an attack on the nation's food supply

THE GLOBAL FOOD SYSTEM IS A POTENTIAL TARGET for intentional attack, a frightening possibility that the FBI and the Joint Terrorism Task Force addresses at its International Symposia on Agroterrorism.

NCI was tasked with creating a short film that would prepare the 2006 symposium’s diverse audience (representing the fields of law enforcement, academia, agriculture and the public sector from 22 countries) with a basic understanding of the U.S. beef industry and how cattle move through the system from the farm to the packing plant. The film would also need to explain how precautions are in place to protect this segment of the food supply and identify areas where increased vigilance is needed.

To strike the right tone and keep an element of lightness and humor in the piece, NCI chose Baxter Black (Cowboy/Poet/Large Animal Veterinarian/Author) as the narrator. The film balances the delivery of information with visual interest drawn from the natural beauty of rural America. The story is largely told through the words and insights of the real people that produce wholesome food for Americans and for people throughout the world.
